Plan your project and review program eligibility.

M&A is registered with Energy Saver North Carolina. Record your interest and project selections for review. Equipment, measured scope and a written quote come before any project balance; the program confirms eligibility, eligible costs and rebate reservation. This planner calculates no project price or rebate amount.

This page covers Energy Saver NC rebates only. Carolina SURE is a separate financing program with a different application, eligibility review, and approval process.

Current program facts

What the official rules say.

Energy Saver North Carolina serves all 100 counties. Applications remain open, but newer single-family applications are queued during a processing pause. Funding and timing depend on the program, eligibility and rebate reservation.

HEAR

Up to $14,000 per household

Product-specific rebates include up to $8,000 for one eligible ENERGY STAR heat pump, $4,000 for a qualifying panel project, and $2,500 for qualifying wiring.

HOMES

Up to $16,000

A free assessment and calibrated energy model must predict at least 20% whole-home energy savings. The approved modeled scope controls the rebate.

Income

Below 150% AMI

Households below 80% AMI can receive up to 100% of eligible costs. Households from 80% to 150% AMI can receive up to 50%, subject to pathway caps.

Contractor

Direct project discount

Eligible work must be installed by a registered contractor. The approved rebate appears as a direct reduction on the customer’s project invoice.

From estimate to installation

The rebate has to be reserved before work begins.

This page helps with planning. The official application, assessment when required, contractor scope, and reservation create the real project.

  1. 01

Apply and confirm the income tier

Use the official application and review the current processing notice. New single-family applications submitted on or after September 1, 2026 are queued. M&A does not determine household income eligibility or approval timing.

  2. 02

Choose HEAR or complete the HOMES assessment

HEAR supports eligible products. HOMES starts with a free assessment and whole-home energy model.

  3. 03

Build and approve the project scope

M&A confirms equipment, sizing, electrical needs, eligible costs, and the detailed project invoice.

  4. 04

    Reserve, install, document, and inspect

After approval and reservation, M&A completes the work and required documentation. The approved rebate reduces the amount charged to the customer.
