An AC Care Checklist You Can Keep With the Equipment
A useful AC checklist has room for notes. A checked box should tell you what was observed, when it was observed, and whether anything needs follow-up. Keep the list with the equipment instructions so it fits your actual system.
Your accessible checks
Write down the equipment model and the filter size specified for it. Record the date you inspected or changed the accessible filter, its condition, and the replacement used. Follow the equipment and filter instructions for the type and care interval.
Check that the thermostat schedule matches how the home is used. Note rooms that feel different. Look for furniture blocking registers or returns, stored items crowding equipment, and visible water near the indoor unit. Observe the outdoor area from ground level and keep required access and clearances in mind.
Stop at closed covers and electrical compartments. The checklist should not become an invitation to reach into equipment, apply coil chemicals, disturb wiring, or handle refrigerant.
Questions for the maintenance visit
Ask which checks apply to your equipment and which are included in the selected service. ENERGY STAR's maintenance checklist discusses controls, drainage, electrical operation, coils, and airflow. The actual scope should be explained for your visit.
Provide last season's concerns before the inspection. Ask the technician to distinguish completed care from recommended diagnosis, repairs, or optional changes. Record any work that requires a separate estimate and decision.
Close the loop
After the visit, keep the findings and invoice together. Add the next follow-up you agreed on and any equipment-specific homeowner instructions. If a symptom continues, describe what remained and when it happened instead of simply marking the system as serviced.
M&A provides planned heating and cooling service in Winston-Salem and the Triad. Ask about maintenance for your equipment. Service scope and scheduling are confirmed for the request; this checklist does not establish a maintenance-plan contract or guarantee future performance.
