More than a new unit. An electrical plan to match.
This ACiQ changeout in High Point needed more than equipment connections. M&A replaced the outdoor supply wiring, added an indoor subpanel, and included surge protection and outdoor voltage monitoring.

What changed—and what stayed.
01
A new outdoor supply run
The original outdoor wiring was not the right size for the new unit. We ran a new line from the panel to the outdoor disconnect for this installation.
02
An indoor feed worth retaining
The indoor unit did not need new wiring from the main panel. We retained that feed and added a subpanel to serve the air-handler circuit and heat-kit circuit.
03
Protection at both locations
We added surge protection to the indoor subpanel and installed an outdoor disconnect with surge protection and voltage monitoring. These features were part of this project’s scope—not a promise that damage can never occur.

The route matters before the quote.
Your equipment choice is only part of the plan. On this job, the outdoor wiring needed replacement while the indoor feed did not. When planning your changeout, ask whether a new wire run is needed, whether a route is available, and how difficult access may be. Those details help define the work before installation day.
Questions to bring to your replacement visit
Does the existing electrical supply suit the proposed equipment?
If new wiring is needed, what route and access are available?
How will the air handler and electric heat kit be supplied?
Which protective devices are included in the written scope?
